Diesel engine cant swim Bush mechanic's

Post by Humble »

If you get water in air intake and motor stops (dont try turn over), simple fix in bush. take apart air intake and filterbox , all the way back to manifold empty out the water spray with CRC to disperse water, wipe clean. by loosening off glow (untill just sitting on the thread) plugs and turning engine over 'hydrolicing' will push water out of chamber via glowpulgs. just keep turning over untill all mist is gone may take 10mins - fun to watch :P . after this connect everything the way it was and turn over be careful and listen for the sound of motor getting 'tight' if so immediately stop and repeat the procedure (takes awhile). eventually she should start up.

-Just a helpful tip if you know the basics not detailed enough to depend on . worked on discovery

haha never trust a snorkel is failsafe,
knowledge of recovery is far more valuable than blind trust
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions

the big issue is to turn the motor off before the ingress of water kills the little man in there holding the candle. then if you are lucky then you may of saved the motor. also dont for get to check the oil as if its over fill then water will be in the sump as well

No glow plugs on common rail and crank as much water out by hand then finish with the starter motor.

Bent rods give electrical faults.

The rod comes out and smashes the alternator - electrical fault

My common rail uses glow plugs! Focus TDCi 1.8.
