FJ40 rockcrawler for sale

Post by DMcCready »

*UPDATE* looking for Offers over $8500... If seriously interested PM me and I will email you all the detail pics

It breaks my heart to do this but with my Buggy coming over from Canada it has come time to sell my 40 series rockcrawler project.

Some of you may remember the build thread on here. Sadly all the photos have disappeared I think. I am hunting through old computers at the moment to see what I can find.

Link to the thread

http://www.offroadexpress.co.nz/Forums/ ... 18&t=20147

And a photo I have found so far. I will have more once I dig the truck out of storage.

Image

Two years ago I left for Canada and the buggy didn't quite get finished... so it was driven into storage and I jumped on a plane.

Specs

Custom chassis and rollcage
Lexus V8 with mega squirt ecu and maf less tune. Installed by Howat engineering.
Rear alloy dual pass radiator with a 16inch electric fan and full shroud. Mix of stainless tube and rubber hose to get to the motor.
40 series 4speed gearbox and late model Tcase. Howat built adapter with twin clutch plate setup.
Klune V extreme underdrive second Tcase for crawling.
Prado diffs. Disk brake all round with extra calipers on the back for fiddle brakes. Rear diff has Howat hydraulic locker and I have all the bits for hydraulic over electric control.
4 link suspension in the back with 3 link and a panhard bar in the front. Rebuildable greasable spherical bearings used throughout no hemi joints here.
Fox air shocks all round 2.0 18 inch travel in the back and 2.5 14inch travel in the front.
Fox Air bumpstops all round
60 series p/steer box
Pto winch with driveshafts installed. Winch is set up for synthetic winch rope.
New Racetec seats
fiberglass bonnet and windscreen frame. Yea the windscreen fits.
New 37inch wrangler MTRs in steel 15inch wheels.
Plus a ton of little stuff that I have forgotten about. gauges, CNC fiddle brake assembly, custom disk handbrake on the back of the t/case, lights etc

I put a lot of blood sweat and tears into this build. I put a huge amount of time into panel fitment and the finish of the chassis and cage. It is virtually ready to strip down, paint, wire some lights into it and you are ready to go.

The price...

Make me an offer. But please have a look at the parts list and think about what you would be getting. It will be running and driving around upon sale.

email me at david@mccreadycivil.co.nz
Ring or txt on 022 0927196.
Or PM me here

Cheers guys

David

I did wonder what ever happened to this. That Canadian buggy better be worth it.
Good luck.

Don't mean to thread jack.

What makes the one you've brought more special than the one you're selling?
Both look cool.
Would be nice to know the specs on the new toy. 8)

I will start a new thread when I finally get the buggy down from Auckland.

The buggy I bought over is beefier in the driveline.
Chev LQ9 out of an escalade
TH350 with an atlas transfercase
Spidertrax diffs with mega hi9 thirds. And all the good internal bits. 50 degrees of steering on the front.
Raceline aluminium beadlock wheels
37 Maxxis treps (comp stickies)

It came third in WEROCK an American rockcrawling series the year I bought and it was one of the best performing buggies in the group I went crawling with.

While not quite set up to go into the bush for a couple of days at a time like we do here. I plan on fixing that asap.
I have plans to use this buggy as a bit of a test bed for a few things I want to try out then in a little while I will build a new chassis and swap everything over. I have been looking to the European trophy raid style of competition for inspiration.

It is a bit more basic than the one I built here. No way near as roomy. A true comp truck
