diff change for manual hiace super custom...??

Post by jo-c-fus »

hi everyone, new to this site after searching up for some info on my "95" Toyota hiace/manual supercustom. Although tho it is a rwd and not 4wd, I have still joined this forum due to its awesome info and guidance...
I am wanting to no if anyone knows of any direct diff replacements I can use to slip into my van, as its seems abit revy on 3000rpm @ 100kms....(I thought I may have been a lot lower considering its a rare manual...?) if I could some how find a diff to make it drop to 2500ish rpm, I would be very stoaked! ... ...

many thanks in advance for the info :D

ohhh an also I have just installed a new 1kzte motor into my van, and have blocked the EGR with a blanking pipe after hearing its a good thing to do, with much gruntyer responce I may add.. was just wondering what I could safley put through the motor to clear out all the old soot/exhaust muck that has previously gone through it befor I may'd the upgrade.... many thanks once again 8)

look on the manufacturers metal tag, and tell us the diff code.
Does it have a straight/solid rear axle, or is it IRS(independent rear suspension)?
The Hiace Granvia and regulus have IRS, but I'm not sure about the super custom.

well it will be a simple swap for you, as the hilux /hiace diff heads are interchangeable and there are plenty of ratios to choose from.
Where are you located?
What ratio diff do you currently have?

ok, your range of choices is more limited now seeing that it is IRS. The hilux centre will not fit. apparently a toyoa altezza diff will fit. But not sure of ratios.

the super custom is just the top spec flashy version of the hiace van.
will still be solid rear axle so easy enough to swap diffs around. i don't know if its a 4cyl or v6 diff tho. with a 1kz i would think its v6 type. axle code on the firewall will tell you.
the Granvia is a people mover, totally different body than the hiace.

for cleaning crap out of the intake pull the intake out and scrub it out.
