35's with standard 2.8l surf

Post by foreign »

just wondering if the standard 2.8l surf engine will have the grunt to get a set of 35's rolling. not to interested in being able to spin them on pavement or anything. i always have 4low. more just peoples thought on driving around town and the likes.
cheers

What diff ratios?
Personally I think the n/a 2.8 r sluggish enough let along with 35s.
And also hilux, s dont really need anything bigger than 33s unless heavily modified.

not sure of the diff ratio. im not at home either so i cant check. its a chassis from a hilux. and its pretty high. these are the 35 it has on at the moment (i havent driven the truck yet). but they are bald so looking to get some new ones and thinking of the right size.

Have just driven a surf on 35s today

2L-TE motor

Took off good with no clutch slip at all

Seemed to get along just fine

Suprised me a little bit

my non turbo 2.4 surf would do the speed limit and even break it in a strong tail wind or down hill section on standard ratios and 35's
and had enough power/response offroad
