Wanted: GQ Safari front Panhard rod

Post by Gran_Safari »

Hey guys

Looking for a good condition front panhard rod for my 91 Safari lwb.
I'm based in Ashburton so hoping to find something local preferably, can travel this week to pick it up within the Canterbury area.

Cheers

Have managed to get one from Nelson, cheers team.

Next question, have purchased some Nolathane bushs to replace the standard ones when i swap it over, does anyone see it being an issue that the new ones will be nolathen and the old standard ones on the other rod are going to stay rubber?

Nolathane will last about 10 seconds. Stay with rubber as will last much better. With the amount of movement under a Safari nolathane (or any urathane) is too hard so can't handle it.
Stick with factory rubber bushes as the aftermarket rubber ones I've tried also didn't last as well.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

Have just learnt (the hard way) that there are two different set ups for front suspension on Safaris and unfortunantly the panhard rod i got yesterday does not have the mount for the steering damper which is what is broken on my truck.

Does anyone have a panhard rod WITH the steering damper mount they can sell me? Am looking for a quick resolve to this issue so will pay for postage out of the north island if i have to.

Unless... could i weld a new mount on my old rod and still get a VTNZ W.O.F?

Cheers team.

Just make a bracket up and clamp it to the rod with u bolts.
Do not weld it as that may be seen as weakening the rod

Simple L shaped bracket with a couple of exhaust clamps to hold it in place. And a bit of paint so it doesn't rust before the WOF.

So are the panhard rods the same dimensions? Could i make an L shaped braket to suit the rod i got yesterday and put that on my truck?

The rod i got yesterday is for the set up that has the stabiliser mount to the chasis.
