Re: WANTED: R151F Transfer case
Had the same issues with my 1uz setup, would drive ok until going into low box then wouldn't go back to high box. Fitted my spare and made it 300 meters until the same thing happened. Pulled the gearbox to bits and found the thrust being put onto the input shaft via heicoil (spelling?) cut gears was popping a large circlip off that held the gear in place on its spline. Tried to get a larger/stronger circlip but no luck so I ended up welding the gear in place with the tig and have never had a problem again. From what I could figure out the gear and shaft were made from 2 bits for ease of manufacturing and not for assembly so there is no issues with using the hot glue gun to solve this issue!
Hope this helps mate.

Hi thanks for the info , when u say gearbox are u meaning the transfer or the actual gearbox ?
Re: WANTED: R151F Transfer case
it only started doing it after i thrashed it up a sand dune , came back down then when i put my foot on the clutch while rolling foward it would go about 2-3 meters then bind up and come to a rapid stop , so nursed it back to the carpark aired up and went to try change from low range to high range and it wouldn't let me , so had to drive back home 10km or so in low range 2wd - was a slow drive needless to say
when i got home i drained the transfer case oil and the magnet on the drain bung was chocka with bits of metal
, pulled the transfer off this morning and tryed to split the case to have a look but i think i need to undo those big nuts that hold the drive flanges on which i don't have the right size socket for here , so will have to wait till tomorrow at work so i can use the rattle gun on it

Yeah sorry gearbox/transfer, if you have metal chunks coming out of the bung then I fear you may have done a little more damage. Take care when you are pulling the chain drive out, it can be a bit of an ass but if its all lined up and pulled out square its easy.
Cheers
