Toyota 3RZ info thread

Postby hosehustler » Wed Sep 28, 2011 12:13 pm

These seems to be an ever increasing topic for 3RZ repowers, and folk running them already, so we need a thread base 8)
No "off topic" crap of any type, just pure 3RZ relevant info, parts, hop up's or any links you have/find (either WWW or your own knowledge) that could be of use to an NZ'r for a repower of hilux, surf, 4runner, or other 4x4 etc post it here, nice and neat and in one place

Hi guys

I'm doing some research in a 3RZ and manual box conversion into a 1982 2WD Hilux

I've recently spoken to a local commercial Toyota wrecker to source the parts needed for the conversion. And I was told to avoid using a 3RZ out of the people mover type vehicles such as the Granvia/Regius and to opt for one out of a Hilux instead.

Could anyone care to elaborate on this? And which year variant would be the most desirable to use?

Cheers

James

i wonder if the sump is different on hilux/surf 3RZ, so it clears the front diff? (though front diff isn't much of an issue in your case).
