Where to get a new rocker adjuster screw?

Post by Mehrts »

Hey guys,

Was checking the valve clearances on my engine today and all was going well until one of the lock nuts decided to (somehow) become cross threaded on the rocker adjuster bolt/screw. Buggered if I know how that happened as you only have to loosen them to turn the screw... Anyway, I'm after a new adjuster screw as I can't separate the two.

Engine is a 2.8L turbo diesel Daihatsu DL-52 from a Rugger. Old school pushrod type.

Thought I'd ask around here if anyone either has some floating around or knows whether these are used on other engines (Toyota etc) before I get in touch with an engine rebuild crowd for a new one.

Here's a couple of pics of the bloody things and where they come from.

can you not use a grinder and cut off the nut then renew that? it's what I would try even thread a new nut.. with a tap and die set..

2.8 is possibly a 3L? looks like the stud is the tricky one to find - id be fkd if I was going to re tap a nut... it will be a std thread. Bet a box if you call toyota it will be common across the "L" series of oil burners eg 2, 3, 5 etc

Yea Big, I'll do that if I can't track anything down.

Tarmac, this is the Daihatsu 2.8 which is a lot different to the Toyota L series engines but may share internals.

The nut is the easy one to deal with.
