F/S Warn M8000 24V Winch

Post by waterboy123 »

As per title, have a Warn M8000 24volt winch for sale it came on my 95 safari (pretty sure factory) I don't need it as I only tow a boat with this truck, looks to be in good condition, has had factory cover on it, comes with all mounts and bolts etc to fit to the front of a safari, but could be adapted to something else Im sure.

Asking $500

Thanks, most all this spec of safari has the same winch and mounts so was fairly confident it was a factory option.

It's a good buy, hopefully someone will scoop it up.

Is your Safari 24V? I didn't know they came 24V... is everything 24V, or does it just have a second 24V circuit to run the winch? I have a 94 Kingsroad with an empty winch bar on the front that needs to be filled.

Obviously this would mean that I'd have to add an extra battery. Do people do this? Can I just add another battery in series, leave the existing electrics all hooked up to one battery to keep it 12V and wire the winch to both?

Just looking for opinions...

Also, does it come with rope and roller fairlead? Does it have a remote, or in-cab controls.

ps I don't know anything about winches, so ignore my questions if they don't make sense!

Hi, Yes my truck is 24 volt, I didn't think any of the Jap ones were 12volt?? (I'm far from an expert on these though!!)

It comes with wire and fairled, I can't find the controller at the moment but there is a new one on trade-me going cheap.

re an extra battery Im sorry I can't answer that for you, last thing you want to do is fry your electrics!!

Yes diesel safaris till about 97 were 24v yours being a TB42 Petrol is why it will be 12v. Nz new patrols (petrol and diesel) are 12v jap imports (safaris)are 24v. Just about everything is 24v except a few gauges and raido. Im currently dropping mine to 12v now i have the 8.

You can get a second battery wired up and then run the winch 24v. 24v electric winches are far better that 12v. You may want somting bigger than an 8000lb for your one though

Thanks doddzee. I think you might be right about the size... I've just done some research and realised that a whale is going to need a bigger winch than that.

Also, the whole rewiring thing might have to go into the too hard basket for a while. I really don't have the time or money to put into it anyway. Cheers anyway waterboy.

Im sure it would be fine, as that is what it is currently fitted too. I would supply it with all the bolt's mounts etc, it would be a direct fit for you.
