cam regrind ?

I'm looking to take my spare ld28 cam in for a regrind to suit running a turbo a little more and to move the torque curve towards the low end.

the ld28 we run in the bush truck absolutely hisses at 4500-5300 but doesn't really do much till then.

I'm guessing its a combination of a camshaft profile more suited to a road car with no turbo along with possibly the pump timing being a little out.

Now tell me if I'm correct in my reasoning if we can get more duration on the cam it will induce a little more air which should help with the spool up,

along with a little more lift to make the airs path a little easier.

Not forgetting that more air means we run more fuel to keep the engine from leaning out and making piss all power.

Anyone delved into this with something to add?

My comment would be that a NA LD28 would not be revving to 4.5 in a standard car. The Laurel that I am using does not have a Tacho, however it definitely seems lower revving than that. My guess would be about 3.5k max.

Maybe your motor has already been fiddled with? Sure your tacho is correct?

Being a diesel 6, the LD28 has plenty of low end torque and being NA means that it is all over at relatively low revs.

My impression of this manual car is over a torquey soft motor, quite docile and great for towing.

I'd say just a birthday with refurbished valve train and new valve stem seals and rings would bring it back to life. then turbo it ..I doubt you'll need to touch the cam after that.
