Nissan Terrano 1995 2.7 TD Air Intake/wading depth

Post by maxnz »

Hi everyone

I own a 1995 Nissan Terrano with the 2.7 TD engine.

I have checked under the bonnet as I was interested to see where my engine was sucking its air from, i noticed the piping going inside the fender, out of interest and also engine safety reasons I would like to know if my car sucks its air from low down the fender or high up in the fender, has anyone ever taken the fender off and seen where these vehicles suck the air from?

Also does anyone know what the recommended wading depth is for these vehicles?

Thank you very much in advanced, any help will be appreciated :D

bout 750ish for an R50 but you'll start floating before that.

R20's intake is over a meter from groundlevel

That's the difference between having a monocoque chassi and an independent chassi.

It seems the newer vehicles are the less capable they are. the new pathfinder cis only recomended to go 450. :?
Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

Rule of thumb = if its not modified (extended breathers, snorkel etc) then don't go through water deeper than halfway up the wheels.
Not only does the height of intake matter, but also whats underneath that might splash water up.
Always err on the side of caution. Things get expensive quickly if you suck in water, and get expensive slowly when bearings etc get water in them.
