Ln106 on 35s lsd or diff lock?
Ln106 on 35s lsd or diff lock?
hi i have a hilux ln106 on 35s. At the moment it has 4.3 diffs but i will be changing them to 4.8 ratio soon. I can get open 4.8s for $250 or lsd for $500. I still want it to handle well on the road.
so would you put
*lsd front and rear?
*lsd front and auto locker rear?
*Auto locker f+r
*or air locker instead of auto locker. If it was, it would be these as i cant afford arbs

Re: Ln106 on 35s lsd or diff lock?
I have a Ln106 on 31 with auto lockers F & R, they are great, road manners are good, off road they are great, but the turning circle is limited when in 4wd with the front locker, a compromise I can live with.
Auto locker in the rear (cant forget to turn it on and will work if air line comes off) and an air locker in the front or air lockers front and rear would be my choice over LSD.
With a wheel in the air a locker will have drive on the other wheel whereas LSD will not.

Re: Ln106 on 35s lsd or diff lock?
No matter what locker etc you decide upon, my advice would be don't waste your money on a Toyota LSD. I changed from both open to both LSD and could only just tell a difference (offroad).
The auto locker that I put in the back however, night and day. So good. Only place I found it to be a bit tricky was when it unlocked and gripped if you lift off whilst going sideways(ish) on gravel. Truck would go from understeer to over steer very quickly. But then I'm a rubbish driver anyway.
From what I hear those chinese locker are ok. Check out 4wd fibreglass, they were doing them and individually inspecting each locker. Had a few hardness tests done and got good results from memory.
Good luck.

I have a LN107 with open front and lockrite in the back, will go LSD in the front when it gets an overhaul next.
It does take a little to get used to on road, especially roundabouts
but I love the setup.

If the funds allow... air lockers all the way.

I'd park it in the corner of the yard and wish I had more time to spend on it

Cant beat mechanical lockers for cheap traction. I have them front and rear, no problems, you just have to drive accordingly.

If u can afford I go air in the front auto in back. Auto both ends is great but an air locker in the front would be better
