I was busy digging around on the net trying to decide what shocks I need to fit to my Defender for its big adventure later in the year and stumbled accross this tech article from a Australian mag.
It goes through all the basics of how different types of shocks work and their strengths and weaknesses. They do this by taking a selection of 9 of the top brands of shocks and subject them to both real life and dyno testing.

I've got new rancho 9000 in the 78 prado and even on firmest setting its still pretty floppy. Even more so with a full load on. Had been thinking about new springs but maybe I'll try shocks first.
