Rear shocks for KZJ78 Prado

Post by micahb »

Howdy Guys

Im After a set of shocks for back of my wagon.
Had some from an 80 series (I think?) running upside down,
but they're well poked.
And the standard ones wont even reach on the flat.
Its got 4 inchs of lift in it. Eye on top, stud down the bottom.
Im after something with these lengths Approx if you know of any.
Min length: 350mm
Max length: 650mm
Have searched and looked around,
Called shops and been to shops but everything is vehicle matched and nothing is made for these wagons with that much lift.
Any help much appreciated.

Also, anyone know what mods are actually needed to fit these?

Cheers, Micah.

Yes they work... But you need to do some trimming to the chassis and other stuff to make them fit....
And then require cert.....
Phil Clark has done it to his Playdoh....(https://www.facebook.com/Force4wd?ref=profile)

Range Rover shocks for the 95 to 02 years have the same pin / eye combo for the Prado... Might just need to change the bushing at the top...

I have used Toughdog ones... But its hard finding them at 650mm... Can get close to 630 ish..

I have been naughty and have some EFS shocks from the front of a lifted Patrol.. And swapped the eyes over...

When you say, swapped the eyes over, do you mean cutting off one and welding on another to the shock?
Cheers for the info.

I just got a pair of Ranchos for my project in from Summit Racing in the US after failing to find the right size etc locally. Delivered cost was a smidge cheaper then buying them here.
