as per tittle when trying too select high range 4wd , makes a click , light comes on for a second or 2 but as soon as i drive foward light goes back off and isn't engaged in 4wd , Low range works fine , any ideas as too what the problem could be and fixes?

Hi,
Normal it is the engagement unit on the front diff. Check the vacuum lines to it and make sure it is free moving.

Im also guessing the 4WD light doesnt work in low range either?

Thats very strange that light only works in low range. Only difference is the low range automatically turns on 4WD no matter what even if haven't pushed button if still set up as factory. Try disconnecting the low range sensor on transfer and put in low range then push button and see if light stays with sensor disconnected. If it doesn't id say something wrong with your 4WD button.

Could also be a faulty 4wd computer ....the brown one that's in front of the gear stick ..under the dash.

sorted , wires from the 4wd Button were broken ,
