Did you turn it on without the aerial plugged in? If so you may have burnt it out. Without knowing what model it is its hard to tell. Is it brand new?

Im assuming CB has power and the display is tuning. if so then aerial might have a short, check the aerail has no shorts, meaning when the aerial cable is removed from the CB, the centre wire to the antenna is not shorted to the outer, need to check with mulitmeter on ohms test. should be 0 ohms/ no circuit inner to outer.

easy to occur to short the inner to the outer with a bit of the outer braid wire touching the inter single wire at aerail or CB connection if you have striped and made these yourself

Then check aerial has circuit to aerial base both centre and outer sheild .

background story: got unit from my mate with no areial, truck cracked head so it sat in my shed for a year...fixed truck so i went and got arieal, cable and bracket for xmas pressie lol. (brand new not scratchbuilt)

You shouldn't power up a CB without the antenna as a rule - but that won't kill it, however, hit the TX key... quickest way to cook it for good.

Check your antenna hook up as described above... then find someone else with a CB to test with.

Or drive down the highway next to a couple trucks, channel 11, ask for a mic check.

UHF PRS. Make sure its not switched to a repeater channel and that you don't have duplex selected. Find someone with a PRS or a handheld and try it on channels other than 1-8.
