Rim size

Post by hunter1084 »

Just seeking abit of advice, i'm looking to buy some steel wheels for my new Jimny and have found these http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/ProductDetails ... uctID=4555

Will they be to wide for a stock Jimny? And will the offset be ok? I'm also looking at buying maxxis trepadors to fit to them but want to stick to the original 205/70/R15 tyre size so it wont void the warranty, will the rim be to wide for the tyres?

Cheers

Yes a 7" is far too wide for a 205 tyre, if you are wanting a steel spoke wheel the ones off an old SJ413/ 410 will fit and they are the same size as the standard Jimny rim.

Sweet thanks for that, whats the minimum width tyre I could fit on a 7 inch rim? I want a wider rim with a negative offset to give me abit of a wider track.

Personally I think a 235/75/15 would be the narrowest tyre suitable for a 7" rim but this won't fit a standard Jimny. Why do you want a wider track on a standard Jimny?

I'm not to sure really for some reason I have it in my mind that a wider track would be ideal. I've been trying to find some nice cheap sj rims in the wairarapa with no luck

i have these on my Jimny and with 31x10.5 tires and they are awesome. They poke out past the guards and stop the panel work from hitting banks etc. BUT it took a lot of guard cutting and i had to extend the bump stops on the rear. if you don't mind lots of guard cutting and having the tyres outside the guards, flicking mud all over the sides of the vehicle they are great.
