Nissan turbo

Post by tafftunk »

I've just put a turbo on my na safari everything is algud so far broke 2 studs yay done the welded nut thing ended up welding the leftover stud to the head and no luck with ez outs but that's another issue. My situation is I haven't wound up the fuel yet my piping is pretty long because I've got a modified td05 off a wrx turbo and the outlet points to the passenger guard, I'm waiting for funds to allow me to get an intercooler the piping gets rather warm to the touch after test driving. My egt gauge hasn't arrived as yet I'm picking in next week sometime do u reckon with normal driving I should be fine. Log style manifold 3" exhaust pod filter inside engine bay. Also waiting for air box to. I know not ideal I just want to know what you experts out there think and before anyone asks I'm booking it into DSL automotive to tune when the intercooler is on they have already rebuilt my ip and injectors and I'm only wanting to run 12 psi max any feedback would be awesome cheers

Should be bolts around the housing or a clamp that when loosened the housings can be rotated,
a lot of turbo engines don't come with EGT gauge , so no biggie running with out one :D
on mine had to take engine mount bolts out and gearbox mounts, jack the engine over so I could get a drill a right angle drill attachment in to drill one stud out

Oh cheers bud yeah tried rotating that by undoing the clamp but oil feed moves with it lol but never thought about the engine jacking maybe helpful I used an ez out and it broke in it but I've managed to get the leftover bit out tried redrilling the stud but I think it's work hardened now, my so called helpers r saying head off now and are laughing there arse off bloody Toyota lovers lol I'm gonna have to ask Reece from deranged engineering to help I don't really want to go to him even though he has offered to help me his back is severely fkd and the thort of him climbing around makes me feel stink considering I've had the operation he desperately needs as we'll . That's really cool that I can drive it thought I was gonna fk it when I touched the piping and they where warm Christmas break has made deliveries late it's to be expected but in a positive note so far the turbo conversion has cost me under 500 bucks being a family man money is controlled by other means lol so everything has been either built by me or Reece and the help of trade for trade deals lol

I have tuned shit loads of td42s and am yet to see one on a factory non turbo pump maxed out with safe pump timing exeed 600 pre turbo the pumps simply are not big enough to provide enough fuel ,
This is IN MY OPINION <

to twist front housing you will have to remove the circlip that holds the aluminuim housing to the core, take the compressor housing off and remove a locator pin.then the housing can be positioned where ever you need it and refit the compressor housing..

And yes that circlip is a prick.I was too much of a tight arse to buy large circlip pliers just for that so made some for when i did my two td04s...
modified surf, hardly drive it seem to keep modifying it....

Cheers for the replies if I turn the compressor housing around I have to weld some m8 threaded bosses onto the housing so the internal wastegate bolts back on yeah I forgot to mention that part that it's still running the standard wastegate everything has been done to a budget hahaha and an external wasn't on the list lol
