Just got back from Nelson yesterday, driving through the Lewis Pass the truck definitely had more power on the hills and I reckon my fuel consumption was better as well.
Easily pays for itself I would say, picked up 1 liter from Repco for $26.

Re: Gutless 91 GQ
i have owned around 12 safaris/patrols, and driven a few others.. some felt tight and drove really well with good pulling power others felt like slugs, in fact i am going to say i have never driven two the same, they all vary and you cant always guarentee the kms so engine may be more tired than initial indications.... i have a 1995 non turbo which is actually faster than a mates tired after market turbo engine he has 33's i have 32' tyres so you have to allow a bit for that. i dont think any additives are really going to help a tired engine apart from the stopping smoke...we just try to convince ourselves it does becouse we have spent the coin.

That and i wanted convincing i didnt need to fork out 3 grand for a turbo conversion!
Either way the situation has improved and i no longer feel the need to trade it in for something newer.
Actually I'm now thinking about selling my other vehicle to buy a SWB Safari to take on a project...
Factory turbo ofcorse!
