Where did you buy the turbo ? as all turbos arent created equal.to make good boost and power you need ,Fuel / Air / and a decent Turbo set up and tuned right

considering your 650c egt's at 110km/h on the flat comment, i would say your turbo is way to big especially as your boost is middle of the road.

have you got pics of your setup?

its only up that hi if I drive in over drive wich I don't so open rd sits about 450 out of over drive remembering has 36 inch simexs on it so mayb could do with a re gear az well petrol patrol diffs id love to get my hands on some but that's goin down a hole other rd to try fix some thing that I beleav is achievable from changing turbo read few things on td05 turbos any 1 no much about these? either that or maybe go back to drawing board and compound turbo set up

tons of info on patrol forum.
for 20psi probably td05-16g.
td05-18g for 27-30psi.
compound for 50psi and up.

but don't forget intake manifold, ic sizing, aircleaner and snorkel sizing.
if your running stock manifold i would keep boost low-mid and use small turbo.

I do have picks but no idea how to upload them on here?? so sounds like 18g for me then ill try it out do you suggest running internal waste gate or external for hi boost? at the moment its running boost psi off pump setting coz I couldn't fit internal waste gate be side the intercooler because its top mount i.c only really put there coz was scared of blowing turbo and it going through engine lmao needs bonnet scoop to make it efficient I will do that just bean lil lazy being xmas and all oh and it 3 inch snorkel and exhaust 2.5 ic piping should I be changing any of that?

I think if you are prepared to go back to the drawing board so to speak you should sequential turbo charge it to achieve the desired broad power band it seems you are after.

, as you will only do one of two things with a big single turbo and the type of feet and load on it.

melt a piston or kill the transmission.

It basically sounds undriveable at the mo. if you can't use over drive to cruise due to lack of torque or poor gearing then it'll only ever be good in low range. ..i.e trailer queen.

ideally with a big six you should be making peak torque by 2000 rpm and horsepower probably around 32-3800 rpm with an after market set up like that.

sequential turbo? is this compound turbo? eg smaller turbo gases feed bigger turbo I thought about this a lot but as im apprentice engineer I do every thing my self and its really hard to find out info on compound turbo set ups and I don't want to do thing 5 times and find out exactly how you don't do stuff lol iv bean down that rd a few time you could say

Sequential turbo charging is two turbo chargers working at different times in the rev range, for example a smaller one that creates 5-12 psi low down while the big one is still winding up to create 10-20 psi further up in the rev range.

once the smaller one has reached full capacity the waste gate opens dumping the excess gas into the path of the gases entering the turbine of the larger turbo to help it as apposed to releasing it into the dump pipe. ..this is the major difference used in racing applications.

IT will stop the lag and give you the low down torque and give the engine a larger band of power.

They do require a more intricate set up but not hugely more complicated then a twin turbo set up.

so for example the small turbo will have a three runner manifold where as the big turbo will have a 4 runner manifold 3 from the engine and 1 from the waste gate of the smaller turbo charger. this also gives the big turbo the extra pressure it needs to spool up faster then it normally would.

Compounding turbo chargers is when one feeds another but are still restricted some what by the flow of the smaller turbo as all the air the engine requires still has to flow through the small turbo.

Your over complicating it , Get a good quality turbo that chinese huffer is probably completely wrong and somekind of made up t3t4 thing , if you size it correctly it will be completely drivable , The log style manifold does not help the flow scenario but id start off with your turbo ,
When i say over complicating it im referring to multiple turbos etc , its not neccissary ,

I agree and like twin turbo set up but think for now im going to try td05 16g and 4 inch snorkel instead of 3 and a bonnet scoop for cooler from what iv read on other threads and wot most of you are saying that's the way to go sound correct? 1 other question would 16g be to small for my 12mm pump?

No , I sell master power brazilian made turbo watrer cooled with cnc compressor wheels for $1000 inc gst , but a td05 16g is rated at about 300hp , what is the burst pressure set to on your injectors , how much plunger lift do you have on your pump ?

hey dude just check out my posts for compound turbo
really cheap to do
awesome bottom end power from like 1000rpm right through to rod throwing territory, pretty much making boost at idle

Depending on what pump mods you have done a 16g won't be too small BUT I doubt you will get the benefits of the 12mm pump with a small 16g.
16G large moreso and 18G definitely you will!.

But with the larger 16 and 18G your spool up will come in a bit later in the rev range.....maybe 1-200rpm.

Why stop with a v8. I have seen pics of a short wheel base in Auckland with a viper v10. It was certed and legal and looked standard from the outside.

no offence but im anti v8 unless its diesel expensive to run ill get pump mods from guy who done it all ino is its compensated 12mm head and plunger from a vx I think.....and im so close were it is now to getting decent power figures  be kind of silly to pull it all to peace's now. and hey james my lift and wheels cost me around 4g if you want to spend the coin ill help you do it I can get tyres cheap ish and that 4wd bits seams best deal for them efs 5 inch springs really wish I joined this site b4 building this truck alota knowledge from you pepole

what sort of power level do you have at the moment?
unless your going to mod intake manifold etc i would keep the power level down and smallish turbo. it also means you break less gear ;)
16g large is probably about right, i'll have to dig up some of the tuners recommendations. with the auto box turbo coming on slightly higher up is probably not a big disadvantage.

from what i understand it will do that with ease with a 16g small and stock pump. with 12mm pump 16g big @ 25psi is more like it. probably 200rwkw easy enough, depending on how well tuned the pump is.

i can't find the info on patrol forum, someone had a guide of turbo, boost and expected output.
