I've just purchased a 92 LWB Safari and want to have a crack at all major basic maintenance by myself. Can anyone give me a few lists of the basics that I should be doing to prolong the life of the truck and save myself bucks whilst learning new skills. Thanks for any feedback.
What do i need to be doing on a regular basis?
- oil changes and filters - how often and how many kms?
- radiator?
-Clutch?
-Diff?
-Transmission fluid etc.

hey, im a big fan of the 5000 km service, most do oil and filter every 10000.
but as my wagon is a 90s turbo i halve it, figure it will help me get a bit more out of it, doesnt cost much to do.
Radiator i do hardly ever.
diffs i check after river driving trips,
dont forget the air filter too, i just clean it up every 5.
most things can be done with a good set of spanners and sockets. they guys on here can help you diagnose most things, pays to do a search first as 9 times out of 10 someone has allready had and fixed the same thing,

Engine oil and filters every 5000 (recommended-especially if turboed).
Every 10,000k is acceptable though if non aspirated. I would do your diffs and transfer case and gearbox if it's a manual, i'm assuming you won't know if and when these were last done??.
From this point onwards you can check for oil contamination (water due to 4wding) by poking your finger in the TOP bung holes and seeing if the oil is a milky color - if not then it's all good.
If you're handy with tools then maybe check the wheel bearings and repack them with grease if they need it, same with cv's. If not going to use it for 4wding then wheel bearings and cv's shouldn't need any further attention for quite some time.
Use a weed pressure sprayer for refilling diffs, transfer case, gearbox etc.
Gearbox Castrol VMX80
Diffs EPX 80w-90.
As an afterthought check the breather hoses as well just to make sure they are connected and extend them up to the firewall if using for 4wding.
