Bullbar and winch finally arrived today,
Anyone want to have a guess what I will be doing until the late hours of tonight?

Just replaced all filters and engine oil in the Safari. Felt a bit of a tit when i ran out of fuel just down the road because I'd forgotten to prime it after changing the filter. Rookie mistake!

Done some more welding on the new chassis for the playdoh... Stitching together the beginning of a new from bar and hook mounts. Also placing in position the new rear winch... Then played electrician / consultant for monstr and his new PRS radio.... Nice unit....

How are the egts looking Bill? Is your engine still standard? Have always wondered what they would be like on a standard truck

Did an oil change, fitted a boost gauge, and installed some more camping stuff in the mrs terrano... trying to set it up as a tourer/daily driver.

Got the templates made so I can mount sensible recovery hooks (and eventually a winch of the "feet forward" variety) for the front of the Safari. Then right on que my brother in law who just happens to be a fitter welder turned up and took it away to press up next week!

My Saffy has an impressive looking East Coast Bars bullbar that is really a POS so hopefully this will sort it.

Ripped off all the silly plastic covers and front lip on the Vitara. And made up a aluminum bash plate instead. Looks alot better and offers much better protection, was stunned at how vunrable the bottom of the radiator was.

Thought it would be nice to have power steering again so I put in the replacement hose that ahs been sat on my work bench. The Safari wasn't too bad without the power steering you just thought about were you parked and were you went a bit more

Hard to see what the problem is really - still plenty of spare teeth left.

Trying to stay positive here - this is just the motivation I needed to re-gear it.
Any one got or know of any 4.88 R&P or full diff centers or whole diff for sale. Its a 93 playdo, is hi pinon front diff. I'm looking for diff center out of a 90 to 92 Prado that had the 4.88 ratio.

Hi smurf
Yep, thats the one. Been a bit scared to pull it down. Changed engine oil, cleaned truck, mowed lawn, played with kids but it was still sitting there busted. The wallet coughed an choked at the thought of dropping it at the garage, so even though my mech skill are less than useless I just started undoing stuff. what could possibly go wrong?

Might be a plea for help to get it back together later - watch this space.

We had to replace a rear diff with the same characteristics before leaving home to head to Reefton.

Have to move my life (garage) to Chch. Wandered around thinking about the (potentially) useful stuff I have that I don't need.

Some free stuff, some cheap stuff.

Did spend a few hours yesterday trying to tig up my alloy fuel tank. Some times it's like "yeah! I got this tig shit down!" and other times it looks like a blind man with Parkinsons did it.

Bought an HJ61 today. After driving it from Levin to home in Auckland I have found the restrictions of long legs...

That rear panel is starting to look pretty good Filthy. Have you got enough spots holding that rust repair patch in place? After flapping down the spots sometimes they can be a little thin and can crack/pop. If you haven't finished ignore my comments :-)

I use POR15 rust treatment and splash it about on the inside as any uncovered metal in a rust repair will immediately start rusting again as there is usually moisture there which is what caused the rust in the first place.

Matt.

Thanks dude, i hope it holds I ended up fully welding it in.  I cleaned it up and put some Killrust etch primer down.

I picked up a similar thing to POR so I can redo everything while its open.
Cheers

Nice work Filthy. Good quality repairs last for ages and will be appreciated by the next owner if the truck lasts that long haha.
