The Maxxis Bighorn and Kuhmo Kl71 both get good reviews.

Anything else I should be looking at in the sub 400 per tire range?

I thought the 764 was a replacement for a 762 and more aggressive?

That's quite a bit cheaper than the Bighorn or KLs.

What sort of Terrain do you run?

Just had a look online. They look identical to the Buckshots which I currently have.

Not quite more like the old BFG's.
I have run them for 4 years now first on a Bighorn and now on a Safari and have found them to be the best all round tyre I have used. I do every thing from highway (I do drive this a lot due to where I live), but I also drive west coast, farms, snow, high country and rivers

6 of one and half dozen of the other. Both have similar performance on and off road although tread patterns are totally different.

If going Maxxis, go with the MT764 if available in the size you want, bit more aggressive tread and more durable.

KL71's are a good road tyre not so good for the mud I have had mine going on 4 years now and I have done quite a few K's on them so they are getting bald now.
As above post they dont wear quickly.

Newer kl71 do, had mine 40tho and there toasted mate, had some on my surf 3 year ago same at the same km still had 10mm of tread

I'll second that, used KL71s on my surf for years and now on the Jeep, they wear f*ck all with right pressure on trucks around the 2ton mark.
Apparently they wear worse on the heavier trucks. Paid just over 300 per tyre not long ago, thats including fitting and balancing.

KL71 are under sized .... so a 33 will be more like 32 , the are real quiet & drive well on the road.... but they do wear fast if you don't have them at the correct pressure on the road.

Check out Federal Courgias Matt , A mate of mine got 5 33s from Feilding tyres for about $1450, awesome in the mud, very cool tread pattern

As far as 71's being undersized..... almost all of them are - what rock are you under??? Sorry to sound harsh but most if not all apart from high dollar ones are less than the advertised dia...

Just a wee note on the kl71 thing, We've been advised by the Kumho guys that you MUST run 45psi on the road to get decent mileage. No more, no less.

I cant fault my KL71's and will buy them again.Never bought them as a mud tyre or expected to be good in mud,but they are great on road very quiet and handle well.

40 on road and well what ever floats my boat off road so to speak usually around just under half that.

I usually run 36 on road and make them look like jandals for off road depending on severity of terrain
