spotlights with h4 bulb.

Post by vvilly »

Hey all,

just scored some spotlights with h4 bulbs.

They have three wires coming out the rear of them.

Question?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram.

Im thinking 1 wire high beam 1 wire low beam 1 wire earth.

diagram looks good if its a common earth system. some put power to bulb, then earth either high or low to make it work. I forget which system the toyota uses (easy to check with a testlight).
are you using offroad? if onroad it'd pay to double check wof requirements for amount of dip lights you are permitted. may have to make them so only come on when high beam activated, but have a switch to choose between hi-and-lo on spotlights

I have got spotlights currently on the truck. They are on seperate switch and not wired through high beam they can be turned on with park, dip and high. Never been pinged.

think its factory wiring too

You are only allowed 2 lights on low beam. I would hook up the high beam part of them as a normal driving light and not do anything with the low beam. Put your switch in line with one of the wires switching the relay.

It may make too much heat inside the spotlight for the bulb having both going, leading to early bulb failure
