Anyone mounted an MCC winch bar on 80 series?

Post by cruiserjake »

Hey all, just fitted a MCC falcon winch bar on my 80 series and 99% of it fitted nicely, just wondering if other people came across the same problems as me though.
1# On the stubs you bolt onto the chassis on the side where 3 bolts go in, the 2 bottom ones are fine but the one up on the angle is abit more than half a hole out. Its not the structural bolts on top or bottom so not so crucial, i will end up drilling the hole out and bolting up. Is it a design fault of have i done something wrong?
2# When bolting the stubs on there is around a 3-4mm gap between the chassis rail and the stub on the top side once all the bottom structural bolts are tightened. is there supposed to be a spacer/packer go in there or are the bolts fine to bridge that gap with nothing in there?
Maybe im being abit paranoid but just wanting to setup the winch bar/winch properly before i actually need it.
Cheers

I never had any issues with mine.
Toyota Landcruiser FJ40, front and rear lockers, 35" simex.
Toyota FJ45 build in progress.
Tires are like boobs, they always look big until you have played with them for a while, then you just want a bigger set.

Hi, although not an 80 series I only had minor alignment issues due to the truck (185 series Surf) having had a little love tap in the front in the past. Had this not been the case then she would have been a straight fitup. In saying that for the price I would almost expect some sort of minor fitting issues.

Yea i cant say i wasnt expecting there to be a problem or two as they are quite cheap compared to ARB/Ironman etc but it worked out pretty well apart from those 2 minor issues. I tried to google and youtube search to see what i can find and found a youtube clip of a guy fitting packers ontop of his chassis rail under the stub to close up the gap. I thought if all chassis rails on 80's are the same measurements and also the stubs out of the factory should be the same them if the gap was there for adjustment them maybe they might provide some sort of packers with it. It came with everything else needed to fit it so i just thought it was weird to have that gap like it does.

Was installing a mates arb bar on a gq a couple of weeks ago, everything was perfect except for one hole which we couldn't work out how it bolted.

Had a 2 min conversation with a 4wd shop and voila had to unbolt something else to expose where it bolted up to.

Take pics of problem area and post up or call into your local 4wd that might done mcc before. These things should be plug and play.

I don't know about the 80 but i am going to be putting on my 105 series this weekend.
I am sure that if you give Mike or Jo a ring they will help you out in some way
