Problem of MUFFLER

Post by jeep4079 »

hi guys, i got a problem
I have a 1993 pajero SWB 2.5TD (4D56T) . I heard some noise like a scream that came from the muffler after i went to the Lornburn trial. the man in the muffler shop suggested me to change my old one to a bit bigger ,kind of performance one which is about 2 inch[/color] and also the tail-pipe. on the way home with the new muffler that already been fitted i found it was different from before.it took about 5 seconds to start to get power when i step on the accelerator, and then the truck will go like normal.just the 5 seconds.
has anyone know why this happened and what i can do with it?
sorry about my poor English.
cheers Frank

don't beat yourself up dude, I think you did great.

I don't know what is going on.......but thought possibly the engine likes a bit of back pressure low down in the revs? now that the muffler place has removed a bit of restriction from the exhaust system it does not get the back pressure and hence does not perform too well to start with?

Any ideas people?

maybe the turbo does need the pressure to spool up quick at lower revs? seems odd though as the first mod to a turbo normally is the larger exhaust scenario... :?

Hi Frank, Go back to your muffler shop and ask them to check it out.
It might be that they have dislodged a hose or fitting while doing the exhaust job and this could be affecting the boost and performance. Also some performance mufflers are directional .
Give me a call if it is still not going right.
