conveyor belt wtd
conveyor belt for under wheel arches where to buy? what size should I be looking at thickness wise
Re: conveyor belt wtd
I used 3mm. Got it from HCD here in Hamilton. Ran almost full belt width up front and just strips in the rear.
Re: conveyor belt wtd
what width did you get how much did it cost and what vehicle did you stick this on just trying to gauge how much id need for my Hilux.
Re: conveyor belt wtd
3mm seems pretty thin, conveyor belting is normally more like 10 - 12 mm.
Just use a tape measure around wheel arch to measure length required. Some people I thing have used the plastic garden edge, not sure how good it is.
I may be able to get some thick rubber used belting if you want, its about 10mm thick I think, if interested will check thickness and availability.
Cheers

sounds primo what sort of width is this stuff you can get?
Re: conveyor belt wtd
garden edge from bunnings is 100mm wide and about 8mm thick and I think 10m length so plenty for any truck. it worked pretty well, I used the full 100 mm width and just trimmed it to shape once it was on, pretty hard to cut but a good stanly blade will do it. I would say the conveyor belt would be a bit neater other wise try payless plastics for rubber strips, might cost you a bit more but you will be able to get the right size/thickness that suits you. if you go to thin it will not hold its shape and will be doing it again in a few months. the garden edging did last quite well

I can get my hand on some 125mm or so mag slab but I don't want to use that as I'm looking to go right into the arch itself like something 400-500mm wide and flexible so can rub up against banks and not get ripped off.
Re: conveyor belt wtd
its 3-4mm nylon reinforced conveyor belt. a bit perished now so verniers aren't that accurate. no idea what it its from, i just walked down the isles and picked it. it must be about 7-800 wide and i just used a measuring tape to get the length. Was on a patrol. guards were cut so had no front inner plastics so it covered the gap between the guard skin and inner body. I used that garden edging crap on a vitara and it was stiff and damaged the guards rather than flex out of the way if you leaned on a bank. From memory the conveyor stuff wasnt cheap though, all the free second hand stuff was real perished so got new instead.
I've used both wide hatted pop rivets and self cutting screws with washers to fix it. Both work fine. I fitted it then cut it to shape on the vehicle.

I got mine from a conveyor belting place in East Tamaki, I think Greenmount Drive. It was an off cut, cost me about $20.00 a few years ago.

Will see what I can find and will get back to you, what sort of lengths are you looking for.

Re: conveyor belt wtd
at a guess 8m or so and something +500mm wide depends what you got let me know cheers
Re: conveyor belt wtd
go past your local concrete plant and ask for some of their belt that they use to mix to the trucks.. its about 10mm thick and you'll most likely get it free as it'll be worn out and they cannot use it.. Its what I did.. best of all FREE

We have been getting the black plastic that is used to protect the rolls of aluminium that diamond use for their roofing. It is about 1mm thick and pretty stiff, it is easy to cut with good scissors holds it shape well and flexes without bending guards. And its free
