Newbie in Wellington/Wairarapa

Post by jjvitesse2 »

this maybe a bit long winded ...sorry

HI all, I'm kinda new here, joined up a couple of years ago, but never got round to getting involved, cant remember my password and have changed email address so have just made a new account.

I have a 94 SWB Nissan Safari auto with factory turbo, has a 2" suspension and a 2" body lift, adjustable pan hard rods and caster correction bushes fitted also. Had just fitted a brand new set of 35 12.5 15 creepys to it when the auto packed a sad so it was sitting at my workshop when some lowlife broke in and stole the new rubber, have been fighting the insurance company for last 2 years trying to get something out of them as they didn't want to pay out hence I haven't gotten involved in the site, nearly gave up on the whole thing and was getting ready to ditch the truck but have finally settled with the insurance company so have decided to put my truck back on the road. Unfortunitly the people I used to go out 4wd with have since sold there trucks and moved onto other things so would be good to meet others in the wellington/wairarapa area to go 4wdin with. (once Ive got the truck ready)
So here come the questions. auto packed a sad so needs 2b sorted, I have another auto and was told its good but who really knows, I also have everything needed to do a manual conversion and pto winch setup (have elec winch also) not sure what way to go I know each has there pros and cons but info / opinions specific to the swb safari would be good.

Im also not sure what rubber to fit, will go with a 35 12.5 15 on a 10" rim I think, last set of rubber was on an 8" rim as thats what every1 recommended so you dont knock the tyre off the bead but didnt like how it pulls in the tyre making it prone to wear in the center, never had an issue with tyres coming off the 10" rims i ran before getting the 8s and happy to beadlock if it becomes an issue, living in the wairarapa means it will chalk up ks on the road getting to and from but it wont be a daily driver, not sure if i want to go with the creepys again because of this have bee looking at the mickey thompson claws, if any1 knows what they are like, the seem to have good reviews.

thanks for reading

they are different td42t has a bigger crank from memory and the holes don't line up and it can be a mission to find 1
