Auto transmission cable.

Post by crzyfl »

Had to replace transmission cable due to it being melted during electrical short problem.

Got a new one on trademe from a wrecker. He tells me it is from an early swb 3 speed, same as mine. When I go to fit the cable, it appears too long in the pin section that attaches to the selector on the trans. I can get it fitted, but the control box needs to be in park, and the selector in L. This means that when I try to move the stick into gear it is already in low and therefore can't move.

Are there more than one length of cable in early swb?
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Compare it to the length of your old one and see if there is a length difference or if you have fitted it wrong.

thanks churchill, would have done that but the old one went to the tip accidentally. Fixed problem by increasing length of threads on rod by ~60mm. Once that was done it was fitted in five minutes.
