Re: Mains Charging
something this size would be ideal:

But will pulse be ok? or should I be looking for float.

Re: Mains Charging
Ctek chargers are probably your best bet. There are cheaper ones around but haven't seen a dead Ctek yet. See plenty of Projector and repco chargers.
Powertain brand seem good to. Auto electricians would have these
The size you want is probably between 5-10amps

Re: Mains Charging
The biggest problem is very few chargers work properly with load on the battery. They sense the load as the battery being flat so they don't get to the float stage and overcharge the batteries.
Ctek are really good (I have seen one dead one in a motor home) or powertrain. If it is for a motor home you should be fine.
The rule of thumb for sizing is 10% of your amp hour rating. Assuming you have NS70's you will have 140ah with 2 in parallel so you would need a 14amp charger minimum.

There wont be much load, thats why I was wondering if the pulse charging would be better than float.

The Ctek chargers do pulse after the float stage.

Re: Mains Charging
Another vote for Ctek Bill - best out there in my personal opinion. Keeps the dual batteries (starting and deep cycle) in boat in peak condition when sitting over the colder months.
P.S. Price the Ctek chargers in the UK and then compare against NZ.

Depending on the model, some of them dont do float, they skip and go straight to pulse
Sounds like a Ctek charger of the correct size is the best option.
