compressor needed

Well supercheap compressor has decided to give up the ghost motors poked. So im in need of a new compressor for the garage. Any suggestions

Using rattle guns and air ratchets and other such air tools.

Was thinking about belt drive compressor

drive belt is the go for high use.. recovery time is where you want to spend ya money.. get a well branded one and make sure they have backup parts if anything goes wrong.. reliability is key here. you'll be spending around $1200 + for a decent one.. good luck

New and cheap but how realiable..? who knows.. how hard you going to use it would be the thing to ask.. I still have my compressor I got 20 years ago and still going strong..

I just got a 3hp one from topmaq. http://www.topmaq.co.nz/item/view/15.2c ... u=AICO0700 got mine for a little less though (on special for the month), they sell on trade me too.

Not super expensive and probably not the best quality but it works with all my air tools and will be good enough to drive a spray gun. I just have to get used to clearing the water trap on humid days. wasn't paying attention and next thing I see little droplets of water - checked trap and its almost full. Need an auto one.

both of those are 115psi max. waste of time. get a 150psi one.

Most of my tools are rated to 90psi and it has a large tank/volume so its fine for me. Others may need bigger etc. get what you need I guess and check the specs.

just make sure the working pressure is enough.
i've run into problems before where the max pressure is 120psi but the turn on pressure is only 80psi. ie you run down to 80psi before compressor turns back on. real pain when your tools use 100psi.

If you want a good decent one, buy it brand new. Who knows the history of it. I got a "trademe bargin" Would of been a lot cheaper to buy a brand new one....and its brand new not 15"/16" worn.

Is it stuffed or just seized? you can pull the heads of them free them up and dress piston etc with some real fine sand paper and away they go again.

nah burnt out motor wasn't smelling any good when it stopped working. getting tired of mucking around with this compressor now I figure just get a new one and be done with it and have yet another spare 40L tank.

yes, i wound that particular air compressor up, after fixing the leaks. currently 150psi max. but its a good quality compressor. i'm not sure how well cheap ones would handle the extra pressure and work.
