WTD Hilux transfer box

Post by specweapon »

Bought a project off trademe and now finding out why it was a project. Transfer case is a nightmare to find.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=693805771

And to be extra helpful he sold the transfer case seperate to someone else for $1

Has anyone got a VF1A transfer case or know where I can find one before the mrs kills me for spending too much on a truck I can't even fix?

http://www.marlincrawler.com/tech/transfercase/transfer-case-bible

At the bottom shows how to tell the difference between the chain drive transfer that I'm after, from the gear drive box.

Compare it to Image

which only has the 5 bolts around the rear cover.
And the one I'm after has the range lever coming out the top of the transfer box, not through the gearbox like later models

Hi could you possibly explain what your gearbox looks like? does the transfer lever have a 4wd button on it? does the transfer lever actually mount into the gear box (forward shift) or is it missing all together because it mounts on transfer case (topshift) I have two w56 topshift transfers here and one g52 forward shift, but kind of had plans for at least one of them in the future.
heres a link to a w56 forsale
http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-par ... 275654.htm
Or your gearbox may also even be the bigger r15* which has a different transfer again.
all I can say is what a dick the guy was for not including the transfers with the truck.

Thanks Stu

Hey, I'm 99% sure it's a r150f gearbox, so from a surf more than a hilux.

It's a top lever transfer box, I asked you in your listing Bigstu. Wish I was after a W56

this auction is not me its i guy I get most of my parts off I seen you had asked yes yours will be a real strange top shift r150 transfer, my advice would be ditch the old gearbox and get hold of the more modern and easyer to come by forward shift r150 like the one you asked about down here, the wiring from memory is easy to sort from diagrams on the net.

Thanks Stu

Yeah that's my next option, looking like it may be the only option, probably cheaper too. Cheers Stu

The exact transfer is a VFA1, which comes on a R150 gearbox, so guessing that means your r series? Luckily each series is very different so easy to tell the correct one from photos
