GOODRIDE SL366 any good ?

Post by GNTONC »

I need new soles for my Surf and saw these 31x10.5R15 GOODRIDE SL366 on TradeMe for $173 a piece. Are they any good ? Has someone bought them yet and has some experience to share ? (did use the search but couldn't find any info) I have KL71 on now but they are nearly bold. They did only last 40k. Need a cheap replacement. Don't do lots of mud but rock and gravel roads beside daily use on road.

cheers,
steve

Apparently Achilles brand tyres have a good following in the US? A mate bought some A/T's to use as road shoes for his Safari...

They do a mud tyre too. Looks like a fairly grunty pattern.

Not sure if anyone here stocks them? Also a little dubious about naming your tyres Achilles... Greek myths and all, sinking Royal Navy warships too...

we had some of the cheap Chinese ones at work. poor traction wise especially on road. also very little tread on the tire. probably running a hard compound to make up for lack of tread depth which is cheaper to make.

I'm going to put some on my R50 soon. They'll only be used for 4wd and hunting trips anyway so won't see much road use.
I asked about them recently on here and got some good responses.

Checked them out at the distributor's warehouse and they look pretty good..
Tread pattern looks OK. Plenty of voids to clear the goo. Don't feel hard. If anything they feel softer than the KL's. Sidewalls might be the archilles heel if anything. They do feel soft there. We'll see anyway.
As a M/T they aren't going to have the road handling of a tarmac tyre anyway, so just need to drive to the conditions.
