argon shield transfer between bottles...

Post by Dace »

heres the story, when I bought my cebora welder, it came with a free full bottle of argon.... there plan is when i finished it, ya take it back, they then register me and I then start paying rental fees...

But I don't want ta do that...

I like me rental free bottle...

My question is, if i rent a bottle, have a joiner pipe made up that can join my empty bottle to the full rental.... open both taps.... will the argon flow to the empty, given me a 1/2 in each... then i can use whats left in the rental and save my rent free bottle for later???

You can equalize the two bottles, who owns the current bottle there are places that fill owner bottles.

Its a blue BOC bottle... i was surprised when i got it free with my cebora and I'm thinkin when I take it in for a fill, I will start paying rental from that point on.

I haven't asked around to see if the fillers will fill BOC bottles

I don't think they will fill it if it is a BOC bottle. Is it stamped with NZIG or Boc, if it isn't you might be able to get it filled.

Bit of bog to cover the stamped writing, then a repaint of bottle?

or not that simple?

If its a BOC bottle , the guy you got the welder from, should logically still be paying bottle rental to BOC ..... Id ask him if this is the case .
My experience with BOC is that they normally pursue their bottles as stolen, if an account is closed .
Current BOC bottles normally have a printed Bar-code tag attached to the neck of the bottle.

Private bottles older than a certain number of years (cant remember) need a safety test certificate ( /sticker ) before they can be filled . $$$

you can drain one to another , you tip the full bottle upside down and open the purge valve on the empty bottle untill fluid comes out. (but as other have said its a very dodgy thing to try and do). Gas /Fulid under that sort of pressure can enter your body directly through the skin and cause extremely dangerous gas bubbles in your blood (bit like the bends)
