Toyota surf 2lte to 1kzte conversion

Post by Camfitz30 »

This is my truck

Image
take a screenshot

It has a 2.4 Turbo diesel motor in it, with Manuel box (the 2lte) i also have access to another surf kzn130 with a 1kzte auto which the body has rusted out so not road worthy.

I want to swap the 1kz into my truck but convert it to Manuel. I am aware i have to buy another gear box clutch flywheel.

Can i convert the 1kz to a Manuel using the ecu from that truck or use the ecu from the 2.4?

and will i have to take all the wiring looms from the kzn or are they the same? I have been researching but havnt found the answers to these questions. any feedback will help! cheers Cameron

You will need the 1KZ loom and computer unless you do a manual pump conversion. Not sure if that computer will work if it's from an auto and you use a manual gearbox? Also I understand the engine mounts on the chassis are different so these will need to be cut and welded to your chassis. Might just be easier to swap bodies?

Swaps easy. You just need a bellhousing, flywheel & clutch. Throw away the ECU & go manual pump, that way you can get rid of all that emmision control rubbish. Modify the engine mounts & cert

Your surf (2.4) should run the R151 gearbox it will be on you vin tag if so you will only need to buy a bellhousing/flywheel/clutch and it will all bolt up you should be able to use the 1kz loom and bridge the netural start wires to the auto to work may be some small other things to do aswel.

Hope this helps
