Hey guys. I've seen a lot about where to put an egt probe, lots of people say pre Turbo and lots say post. On my landcruiser it would be ideal to place it post as the dump pipe is easily accesable. Also if post Turbo, is 600deg the max ?
I've currently got my radiator put and getting proffesionally flushed. I'm going to get a new viscous fan hub and thermostat. The standard thermostat is 82deg but I was thinking a 77 could be a better idea?
While I'm doing all this I'm also installing a Subaru water to air intercooler, seems as though it will fit quite nicely!
Cheers
EGT probe location and 2LTE cooling
Re: EGT probe location and 2LTE cooling
Pre-turbo is more accurate and also much quicker to react to changes in temps so would be better to do it that way if possible. Shouldn't need a colder thermostat unless you are having overheating issues?
Re: EGT probe location and 2LTE cooling
post turbo generally 550c max.
2lte normally use an 88c thermostat. so i would double check what the factory one is for the landcruiser.
now the catch here is with what thermostat it has. factory one STARTS to open at 88c while aftermarket ones are fully open at 88c.
fitting a decent water temp gauge is the best idea. see what temps its actually doing.
changing the thermostat is not a good way to fix a cooling problem.
running the engine to cold can cause other issues.
