Tired tires

ciao all, has been a while since I last visited here.
Niva has had a mild 2"? lift i.e. Dobi lift springs with nylon spacer rings front and rear.
Need to sort some new tires as my current set are well worn 215-75R15 Hankook Dynamic MT.
The donor car has a full set of original 16" factory rims with 205R15 104S M&S
Considering Maxxis MT764 30x9.5R15 but these might be abit hard on the steering box.
Pros and cons on 15" and 16" ?

greetings,I run 30x9.5x15 mt754 on mine .i have a 4" lift and did find that I needed to replace the idler bushes.whether this was because of the lift or the tyres or wear and tear I dont know.I have found that i needed to trim the guards front and rear because under extreme articulation they would rub.I have not tried them since [yet].I suppose that it comes down to what you intend to use it for and how extreme you want to go while out having fun.I mean I have also had a lot of fun[ok I got stuck] while on my 215/65/15 rally cut tyres.hope that this helps

I run currently 215/75/15, i have run these for many years with no problems, i am now looking at running 235/75/16 for the road and 700/16 sat for off road, mind you i am running a turbo diesel as well.
I have fitted a 2" lift and had the idler bushes replaced with bronze bushes and replaced the steering box with a Fiat item.
My Niva has also had a 2" lift.

These are quite cheap and they narrow width would work well.

Those look good. I'm a great believer in 205/16 for offroad purposes - find they ride and work better than 215/15 types. Ride better on road too!

Hey thanks all for the replies.
Well I bit the bullet and got them Maxxis tyres.
Had a panel shop friend chop heaps out of the front and rear guard arches.
Needs finishing off now
Will need to either refit me old rubber guard flares or source newies

Let us know if the trim causes WOF issues; I'd love to do the same.

ciao all,Can not see it being a WOF issue as long as no sharp projections,structurally sound and guard flares enclose tires,this I have yet to do with strips of used conveyor belt material.
Successfully completed the Cozzie Four Wheelers GLen Massey Safari last weekend.
Slight rubbing on rear of both front arches which has been put on the the panel beater to do list.
