2002 Freelander any good?
Re: 2002 Freelander any good?
there is a reason these are so cheap(devalued)
These are so poor, the Dog and lemon guide devotes over 3 pages to this vehicle.
Quote " If you buy a Land Rover Freelander, you deserve everything you get".
Have a read of this...

I wouldn't even wipe my bum with the dog and lemon guide.
That idiot just favours corollas or something.
I probably wouldn't buy a high milage freelander still though

Re: 2002 Freelander any good?
I had a brand new TD4 in 2003 owned it for 2+ years i enjoyed every part of owning it apart from servicing costs which i felt were high. Nothing went wrong in the time i owned it, off road is bit limited without low range and ground clearance. I understand the V6 is thirsty. I have considered owning another one.
During my ownership my brother worked for a LR dealer, my Dad bought 2 TD4's and another 2 of friends also bought 1 each, i don't remember any of them having problems although these would have all been brand new vehicles.
TD4 is a BMW engine i believe.
Cheers

Both experiences I have had with them have been negative.
A neighbour owned one and had untold trouble with it - lots of different things, he later heard that his problems weren't isolated to his vehicle. The one day we had him on our property the clutch was burning out (it was pulling a weight but certainly wasn't something you'd expect that problem)
Another was a friend got one a couple of years ago from his son who was a dealer and it came in cheap so he passed it on to his dad. I'm not sure what sort of a run they had with it, but just the other week it gave mechanical trouble (not sure of what - was talking to the wife) to the extent that it probably isn't worth repairing.

Now just a 1994, 1kz Surf, pretty standard.
