Terrano LSD Diff Oil

Post by maxnz »

Hi Everyone

I am planning on doing a service on my rear LSD diff on my 1995 2.7L Turbo Diesel Terrano.
It is defiantly an LSD Diff and I want to change the oil.

I have done a bit of work on cars and have learnt how to check the oil level in the diff. So as I understood to drain and refill the diff you simply remove to bottom bolt on the diff, drain out all the oil, replace the bottom bolt, undo the top bolt (the one half way up the diff), put in new oil and replace the bolt. This is correct right? Haha

Also does anyone have any suggestions on what Oil I should use in the LSD diff, I don't mind if it costs like 20 bucks more than a cheaper option I just want the best option. 'Better save than sorry' :)

Thank you very much in Advanced! :) ;)

Oh Ok haha thanks! :)

What oil would you recommend to use?
I have locked at Redline Heavy Shockproof gear oil:

Would you recommend to use this?

Thanks very much

Just a handy tip:

Undo the filler plug before the drain plug.

This can save embarrassment due to dumping your old oil, and then struggling to crack the filler bolt to refill the diff again if it's super tight.

Now that's a damn good tip , I would never have thought of that

Would this be suitable?

Thanks

yep. I recommend buying that and a 1 litre bottle with the hose so you can squeeze it in, then fill the 1 litre one up from the big bottle.

unless you have a pump of course.
