Terrano II LSD search

Post by rotn50 »

Hi guys, I currently acquired a 1991 terrano II 2.7 td and I have the hg46 H233b rear diff but it is not an LSD(no orange sticker and no lsd), where I live in Australia there is no spares for these terranos and I was wondering what other models(navaras?) run the H233b that I can hopefully source an lsd centre from.

Thankyou in advance for any help I receive, cheers Mick

http://www.arb.com.au/media/products/ai ... _chart.pdf
page 10 for Nissan,
gives a list of models supplied with the h233b,
looks like d21 navara's would be the most common.
hunt one out get a shim or two in it and they work really well
problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions

You sure it isnt just worn out...? or been changed out already by a previous owner.

I don't think nissan has made a commercial chassi without an LSD since 1989 especially not in the R20 platform as there is no part listing for a non LSD in there R20 service manual or parts order catalogue.

here are some models in aussie that come with said axle.

yeap, D21 nivara or the WD21 terrano.
1996 2004 automatic R50 pathfinder/terrano
1999ish fronterra xterra

word of caution.....

pre 2000 is the H233B axle with 4.625:1 gearing (31 spline axles).

post 2000 is the H233B axle with 4.636:1 gearing (33 spline axles).

so make sure if you buy a later one grab the axles as well.

Dont worry about the ratio as you will be bolting your crown wheel to the LSD diff head i take it. ?

Thanks guys, I have sourced an lsd centre thru niss 4x4 spares in Victoria, hopefully arrives tomorrow. I went to the wreckers here in Townsville qld Australia and there was another terrano 91 without lsd and a 91 pathfinder next to it with lsd but 4.8 gears, was cheaper with freight 3000km awy then in my home town by $200.
