Re: Wildcat anyone
Its still a lawn rover. It will have bits drop off, overheat, hate water, not want to go again when its been near water, run and idle properly only on special occasions and its a v8 with v6 power. I wouldn't want to give 5k for it. I guess if you enjoy holding your mates up when its playing up and don't mind being towed home nearly every time then it could be for you.
May the force be with you.

Nah, you'll laugh, I have a wee Mitsi Pajero.
Nothing wrong with Hilux's but you have to spend heaps to get them competitive. Compare with Mitsi - 50mm suspension lift can be done for $50 for a set of LWB springs, the 3.5L is 208hp and has a factory 35mm body lift so 33'' tyres fit without rubbing with just the suspension lift, factory rear air locker which also has a LSD, drivetrain copes with 33'' Silverstone's and lockers without crapping out, rear discs, lots of soft tops out there, and you can pick them up for half the cost of a Hilux.
I used to wheel twice a week with a Discovery and after the "funny ha ha its crapped out again" has worn off it gets a bit frustrating. He's pretty much given up on it now, been sat rusting on his garden for the best part of a year. I actually wheel on my own a lot nowadays, a least a couple of evenings every week, and I've only ever had to walk out once and that wasn't the mitsi's fault, I got stuck in the dark and the bloody ground anchor just would not bite. I play hard too, forge new tracks and winch a fair bit. Rolled it once but recovered it ok. One day I hope to find a mate, without a bloody lawn rover, to wheel in the evening with!

You are over-generalizing, inaccurately.
Regular maintenance, carry some CRC and a couple of old screwdrivers, and intelligent driving style (slow as possible, fast as necessary) sorts most things out. Just don't go crazy on tyre size.
Whereas the Pajero, yes, you can behave like an absolute lunatic and it won't bite you. Thats the whole point, But its a high maintenance vehicle too.
Re: Wildcat anyone
Genuine Bowlers are pretty light and fast.
The first listing looks like a regular landy with a Bowler bonnet.

It does look like that, but this is a genuine bowler tomcat. They have been around since 1985 so the early ones were essentially cut down rangies with series style bodies
