Hi All,
Be easy and gentle on me since I am new here.
I have a 95 D21 Terrano manual.
It has a rev counter with a mind of its own. It doesn't work, or is reading we are revving 8 000 rpm at idle, or bounces between the 2 and occasionally it reads correctly.
I have heard you can remove the instruments and replace a resister which blows to fix the problem.
Does any one else know about this who can provide more info, such as location and size of the resister to ensure it can be done cheaply and correctly? I have also seen a few threads about crank sensors etc which get covered in crap/dust in the bell housing, or could it be the pickup on the diesel pump causing the issue?
I also had a 91 D21 manual 2 door which had a similar issue, as it is one of those things which you constantly see to annoy you when they don't work.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks for the thread, very helpful.
I might just remove the instruments cluster and take the lot to Parrots and Son instruments as they quoted $70 to fix it, got to be cheaper than getting it wrong and buggering it up, besides I only have a big soldering iron, not an electronics type
