Fantasy projects

Post by muddymatt1973 »

Hi All,

I know everybody has a few so please add them.
I'll kick off with a few of my ideas. These are what I would do with A, lotto winners money B, Far more engineering skills and C, lots and lots of time.

Discovery 3 chassis and air bag suspension with factory rear locker and traction control.
Ford/Mazda 3.2 5 cyl motor and 6 speed manaul box.
Wrapped in LR series 2a bodywork. :D

Jimny beam axles and coils under a Vitara 3 dr body with power from a 3cyl Ford eco-boost motor. Manual box from a toyota gt68 (only small rear drive I could think of) :D

Early hilux double cab body, tube space frame with coil over rear and Dana 44 or stronger. RWD only. Custom front arms and drop spindles. Crazy v8 like a Maserati or TVR flat plane crank. Motor set back as far as poss or offset like a Trophy Truck. Road legal :D

Well that's a look into my twisted imagination :? What's your ideas?

4 x electric motor, one for each wheel.
Li-ion battery pack or better...
Active long arm independent suspension on each corner.
4 wheel steering.
Wheel speed/torque sensing for independent motor control.

Will have to stick to my petrol with solid axles until I win lotto or get a job with Tesla.

1. Scorpion 4x4 replica - Ls1, tube chassis, 39" wheels, 4 wheel steering, 5 seater bush/rock/mud crawler (not even close to dreaming)

2. FJ45/FJ55/FJ60 double cab, some sort of v8, 4 link front and rear, coiled, caged, road worthy, barred up and angry looking. (Dreaming design - Thanks Tom!)

3. FJ62 restore - Ls1 expedition / tower / shiney family cruiser - WIP.

Turn my Dodge Challenger into a Pro Touring car.
Build something similar to the Power Wagon above but put a Ram Cummins in it, big turbo and injectors and lay coal redneck style.

Mines in the build stage. May not be the prettiest custom car but it will turn heads (and stomachs - LOL). Some will like it, some will loathe it and the rest wont care, but I'm making it myself and #### everyone else...

Those are Rockwell deuce and a half (2.5 ton) axles. They are are a top loading, pinion-braked design from military applications.

Also thats a 3rd generation Chevrolet K-Series pickup truck. The C-10 was a half ton version made between 66-72.

Hmmm the current project on paper and CAD

A series Landy, cab well side stretched to around the 100" mark
Chassis is landy, so is the cab... space framed tube fenders front and rear and exo over cab
Custom high clearance axles on hilux diffs and a mix of hilux and cruiser axles for a bit of extra width.. sporting Longs up front with long term hydro diffs (my design  ) rear and rear fiddle, beadlocks and Micky T's
Set back and low super charged VP commy and auto setup
PTO Rear mount winch
Suspension is 1/4 elliptical leaf sprung on dual triangulated rear and 3 Link front running dual action air ram assist on all corners (adjustable up/down on the fly)
Anything not structural is going to be alloy (doors, body skins etc)
Light weight, Low CoG, on progressive adjustable suspension

Now I need to take the sketches and build lol
