12/13 April
12/13 April
Finished early today so shot down and got my Silverstones fitted.
They are very aggressive and noisy on the tar seal! Can't wait to get them of road.
Matt.

Re: 12/13 April
Finally it moves
Busted front diff at xmas, took a month to get over being scared of fixing it myself, then decided to do both diffs and change the ratios. Couple more weeks being confused on the net about which R&P I needed (thanks Suzolla for sorting that out). Took me two weeks to pull it apart cause I was paranoid about what I was going to wreck with every nut I took off. Then the dude setting the diffs went on holiday
.... While I waited, did some new brake lines and pads and a wee mod to the brake line mount so I can pull the rear axle without splitting the brake lines apart (that was a dumb design Mr Toyota)
Putting it back together wasn't as bad as i feared. "Just do everything again but backwards" some bright spark said, but that was pretty much it really, apart from a lesson in how to replace bearing races.
2 new batteries today and now it moves. Woo woo.
Oh damm, the rear diff wont disengage
Back under it again....

Re: 12/13 April
Gave the safari a birthday today
New oil engine, transfer, box and diffs.
Got to use a mates workshop. Made life way easier has a hoist for each wheel got to tinker with flex etc lol. Perks of using truck hoists.
Also replaced a axle seal on a mates safari.
Tomorrow's task install prs and cb before I head away for my holiday on Monday.

Re: 12/13 April
Moved the electrics for the winch under the hood, had some welding cables made up fo the extra distance required. Feels so much safer with it there, rather than on the front

Re: 12/13 April
Stopped procrastinating finally and cleaned my truck saturday... then had Mike and Zahra (batfastard) round for a bbq.
Then spent today with tools in hand getting a step closer to my goal of a finished truck
Big thanks to Jono for coming round to help sort a small issue I wasnt sure about...

Re: 12/13 April
Had to do the glow plugs in the hilux, after reading dieselboys writeup a while ago about soakibg his intercooler etc thought itd be good time to do the same. Unreal the amount of shit built up in there intake pipe and manifold, cleaned them out and also fitted a oil catch can. Be interesting to see how much it catchs, Also did fuel filter and started running 300ml two stroke oil in with the fuel, will see how that goes. No major changes straight away.
Softroader VW Amarok nowadays....
