T-case vibration .... maybe??

Post by Conan »

hey all , maybe your endless well of wisdom can help a friend of mine..

recently bought a 1989 lada niva 1.6.. all was sweet until we went 4 a bash at river other night,

it has picked up a mean vibration through the gear levers when taking off, not as bad when in low but still evident.

it dissapears once theres a bit of speed, and doesnt seem to be evident when put under load at a high speed. (high speed being above 50ish etc  )

all the driveshafts seeem to be pretty cosha and tight

anyway any thoughts would be appreciated.

check the transfer case mountings and the rubber donut.
where the t/case mounts to the floor should be spacers if not then there should be.
ring gee motors they should be able to help.

Gidday Conan.... a bit of a step down from the hilux beast to a lada :P :P

anyway I'd look for a stone jammed up in the transmision tunnel or in one of the mounts

Cheers Reece

i used to work next to a lada workshop years ago , they used to do this all the time to nivas , loosen the transfer case bolts , get one person on the front bumper , another on the back , as they both jumped up and down tighten the transfer case mounts..laugh if you want - but try it
