I have a swb safari auto TD42 running 35s. When cruising along at 100km/h it is now running really high egt around degrees. Note my sensor is mounted post turbo.
What is the best way to sort this problem out? I can think of 3 options.
1. Turn fuel down as my fuel pump does not have the boost sensor.
2. Change diff gearing
3. Have fuel pump modded for boost sensor.
What do you think the best option or options would be?
I have been searching regarding diff gearing and have read that a terrano rear lsd can be installed into the front of a safari giving the gear ratio 4.6. Can any one back this up? is it a straight forward swap?
For the rear I have seen 4x4bits sell the 4.6 gearing. Are they the best place to get them from?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers

The lsd center can be installed but not the crown wheel and pinion in the front, have to buy new or find a factory second hand one for the front, you can use the terrano cw and pinion in the rear.
Re: Safari Diff gearing
To fit the safari rear diff do I need to use the ring and pinion from the terrano rear lsd diff?
Re: Safari Diff gearing
what airbox do you have and do you have an intercooler ?
Fitting a boost compinsator will not lower your EGTs and that only reduces off fuel boost ,
I had a customer whose snorkel had restricted the air intake and it made the egts go from 400 to almost 800 degree , Check your inlet for restriction , if you have a factory safari airbox(plastic one) the lid is very restrictive ,
If not what is your boost level at , if its at say 9psi raise it to 14 psi and it will lower your egts considerably , (usually about 100 degrees , )
Other things that will cause high egts are restricted inlet (blocked air filter , carboned up inlet manifold from faulty egr valve , not enough boost for the fuel , to higher air temps (no intercooler or turbo running boost above its efficiency level , Also if for instance you were running 25psi through a factory turbo it would be BACKING UP , i.e gettting back pressure pre turbo (not good , )
Anyhow let us know your specs and wel go from there ,

Re: Safari Diff gearing
running 35's knock it back into 3rd and cruise with higher revs/less loadup of the motor as a short term solution.
I believe the common mod is to get the gearset from a spirit model with the rd28 as it puts it back to near factory ratios countering the big increase in tire diameter.

problems are only a problem if you not willing to learn how to find solutions
Re: Safari Diff gearing
My auto trans developed a buzzing noise so I changed it for a manual. This has pretty much solved the problem it makes it far more drivable. I figure the auto trans must have been on its way out.
