Safari hard to shift out of 4 wheel drive

Post by waterboy123 »

Was mucking around with putting my safari (95 SWB 4.2 turbo auto) into 4wd tonight and it would go in sweet as, but took me a good five mintues to get it back into two wheel drive tried everything ended up driving around the block and stop and slammed it back into 2WD, it's been abit stiff sometime's before but this time was a right pain in the ass, any suggestions??

I take it that when you drove it round the block it was on a sealed road??

If you drove it home to your place in 4wd on the road, and than round the block, then yes, its gona be hard to put back in 2wd. The transmission would have wound up :?

I could be way off the mark with that comment though

Did you make sure you were stationary and had the auto trans in neutral???

No I was just stuffing around in the driveway, didn't drive it in 4wd until it decided it didn't want to come out, then drove it about 800m before stopping and getting it to shift.
