After having my truck stolen a few months ago and seeing the weekly posts of others going missing.
How many that got nicked had more than factory security? Just trying to get an idea if alarms and other bits actually help in the battle to keep a truck yours. My old truck had nothing in the way of security.
Anyone have practial ideas on what can be done/installed to help?
Now in my new one i have a gear lock, and a modified bracket to hold the transfer case in gear and a simple steering lock. While these can be by passed its there to slow them down and deter.
There are many cheap GPS trackers on the market, they can be hidden in a variety of places and are tiny (smaller than a pack of 20 ciggies).
DIY setup costs start at $100ish. They run a sim card (eg 2degrees) and can be topped up easily, and set to auto push texts upon overspeed, movement boundaries etc.

A mate of mine had a truck from south africa, aparentl;y its really bad over there, but it had a transfercase lock built into it, which also locked the gearbox and he had a seperate steering lock too.
it was all made to be part of the body, so it couldnt just be hacked off.
maybe some razorblades out the seat would work, be a good way to get dna....

would a ratchet type system on the brake pedal work that when you push the brakes down they don't turn off. So as it goes down it clicks on. Maybe have a bar or some setup that can be padlocked or similar. Least your truck won't end up in a tree or worse having a head on and killing some other innocent people.
fluffy sleeps in my truck. i also remove things like steering wheel and seats. pull on hand brakes, but disconnect there leavers. take starting battery out ect. wont stop em but will slow em down a bit,
Step 1, Run a rope (stronger the better). above your sun visor in such away no to detour your local thief. Thin steel or braid may work also.
Step 2, run both ends under you Truck.
Now the tricky part, attached ends of rope to drive shaft, for best results leave 5-15m of slack rope coiled up under your truck, you want your truck to get a bit of speed and momentum before the Anaconda TM takes hold.

if your truck is petrol and injected, you could just unplug the AFM if it has one, as it won't start, or won't run good at all anyway. And hard as to find out why.

Great thought, I just spent 3 ****ing days working out whats going on with my truck, turns out it was the AFM hahah
Put another switch in-line with the ignition switch that is hidden somewhere to control the fuel shut off solenoid for a diesel or ignition for a petrol. Simple, low cost and easy.
I have thought of putting a switch in line of the fuse box into the cab and use a unused switch on the dash to isolate the power , also what I have done in the past is put a red handle kill switch "like on the race cars" in line to the starter motor and just pop the bonnet and take the key out when you park it up .
