They usually have a viscous fan with an electric fan as well, you will struggle to find an electric fan that moves as much air as a viscous fan but a set of twin fans off a falcon might work. There is a thread by fullthrottle in the tool shed section on fitting them to a Terrano, will see if I can find it later.

I didn't think XJs came with a viscous fan. Not enough room in the engine bay. TJs have viscous fan on the same engine. WJs have hydraulic fan driven by power steering pumps.

Just looked up, and some XJs did come with both viscous and electric fans. Interesting.

Have a look at:

Just picked my jeep up today I love it. You can definitely tell your driving yank. Its had a bit of work done to it thats a nice surprise. I found out it was a diesel thats had a late model 4.0 installed aparantly less than 40,000 kms but wont take that as gospel. Brand new 3 core radiator and aftermarket trans cooler but its mounted directly infront of the radiator which I dont like. Extractors onto 2.5 inch straight pipes with 2 inline cobys or the like. Bonnet vents though a little agricultural but they will work. Needs some attention with the heater and electric seats but will get there.

4.0l engine is happy with 91 octane petrol. No need to be extravagant and go for anything higher octane.

They really ain't that thirsty for what they are. It's about what you expect for old technology.

My round town driving in these vehicles:
Nissan Safari (Non-Turbo Diesel) - 15-16L per 100kms
Jeep Cherokee XJ 4.0L - 13.3-13.7L per 100kms

Mine has both factory fans, 1 visc and one electric, electric cuts in at 105 degrees, I made a small scoop on the lhd side of the bonnet and mounted an a/c fan under it, when I'm in the mud I flick a switch which turns both my scoop fan and the factory fan on,can then spend lots of quality time around the rev limiter and never gets hot.

Thats a great idea. Im considering a small fan hood vent combo. Last time I meesed wiyh the aux fan I couldnt get it right. It would not start when turned on. Never figured out why so I took the switch out.

Could always block the bonnet up too, that with vents should be all good.
