hi josh. next week my friend is doing three 1kz dump pipes. They will be for a KZN 130 Surf and two kzn185 surfs. if you would like , we could make one for you, and you could test fit it to your ute. If it doesn't fit then simply return it for full refund.
Unless you are in Manawatu, in which case he can custom make one for you on the ute.

Can someone tell me what turbos the 1KZs run? (as someone informed me they came with two differing turbos, is this correct or not?)

we won't make any 2.5" ones unless requested.
Yes josh. I meant a flexi , but the software somehow changed it to flex. Some people like having a flexi in the exhaust at some point, but many people say you don't need them, firstly because the exhaust just rotates slightly with the twist of the motor, and secondly because the woven wire braided mesh flexi joins collapse to a smaller internal diameter over time, reducing flow. Have seen it many times:(

Whats everyone thoughts on a dump pipe size?

I have a 2 and a half inch system

Is it worth going 3 inch dump pipe then back into 2.5 inch system

or just go for a 2.5 inch dump pipe

Cheers

the guys that did my 2.5inch exhaust have tuned quite a few 1kzs and well known for it. I asked for a 3inch one and the response was why? running a stock turbo with a chipped or tuned 1kz it makes no difference on the exhaust back pressure, it is the factory airbox that lets them down when your really trying to get the extra hp out of one according to this shop. So 2.5 inch it was and all I can say is that IM happy :)

Apologies to all those who are watching this thread, waiting for some dump pipes or full exhaust systems to come on stream. Neither the KZN185 or the KZN130 "guinea pig" trucks has turned up yet. Sorry. One is being held up by a third party, the other one I'm not sure why. Will let you all know when under way.

Have PM'd low-key about his 130. but no response.
Today we had the guinea pig KZN185 truck on the hub dyno, for a "before" dyno. It is an intercooled one. Directing the dyno fan onto the top mount intercooler made the results much more repeatable, and dropped the EGT by 100 degrees C.
Our base figure is 118hp at rear hubs at 9 psi. The truck is stock part from a pod filter in a custom made air box. Thanks to forum member Zed.
